Since both the airport and train station are located in the city area, it is very convenient for you to get around by taxi, tram or bus.
By Taxi
Taxis are always a good option for transportation in China, and Dalian is no different. Basic fare is RMB 8.00 (US $1.20) plus RMB 1.20/km (US $.20). If you don’t speak any Chinese ask the concierge to tell the driver where you want to go, or have a card with you with the written address of your destination. Remember to get a card from the hotel so you can show it to a taxi driver when you want to go back to the hotel.
By Street Cars in Dalian
Trams are cheap and an easy transportation option in Dalian. They cover a wide area and link many important parts of the city. There are 3 tram routes: 201, runs between the Dalian train station and the Shahekou train station; 202, runs through the Shahekou district toward Xinghai Square; and 203, runs between the Dalian train station and Donghai Park. The cost is RMB 1.00 as long as you don’t change routes. Usually a tram will pass the stop every 10 minutes.

Buses are another option for transportation in Dalian. They are cheap and run all over the city. Be careful though, sometimes they can become very crowded. The cost is RMB 1.00.
